Phoenix House
Phoenix is Center’s newest group home. The Center built an 8-bed group home called the Hannaford House and also operates 4 group homes in Great Falls with 6-10 beds each. Since 2000 Hannaford has housed numerous clients over the years on their road to recovery from mental illness. Group homes provide a safe, structured living environment for people with serious mental illnesses like schizophrenia, bipolar disorder, major depression and PTSD.
The name "Phoenix" was chosen because it represents transformation. A phoenix is a mythical bird with a colorful plumage and a tail of gold and scarlet (or purple, blue, and green according to some legends). It has a 500 to 1000 year life-cycle, near the end of which it builds itself a nest of twigs that then ignites; both nest and bird burn fiercely and are reduced to ashes, from which a new, young phoenix or phoenix egg arises, reborn anew to live again.
