"Partnering to Improve Lives"
The Center for Mental Health has been partnering to improve lives for over 35 years. Originally established in 1974 to serve the nine county "Golden Triangle" region in Northcentral Montana, and in 1997 the Center began providing services to Lewis & Clark, Broadwater, and Jefferson counties. Later, Meagher County was added in 2005.This addition expanded the total service area to 13 counties, and the Center now serves over 4,600 clients in Central Montana. In Cascade County alone, the Center serves over 2,400 people. In Helena and the Tri-County area, the Center serves 1,200. Located in Helena, Care House is the only crisis stabilization facility located in Central Montana.
The Center currently serves over 4,600 clients located in 24 outpatient, day treatment, group homes in Central Montana. These crucial programs are staffed by over 300 psychiatrists, psychologists, psychiatric social workers, licensed counselors, nurses, trained paraprofessionals, and certified peer specialists. Our professionally trained teams are able to provide quality mental healthcare, diversifed programming, and a full range of community-based services to both adults and children.
In 2006, the Center changed its name from Golden Triangle Community Mental Health Center to Center for Mental Health. With shrinking reimbursement rates and more demands for services, the Foundation was established in 2001 to improve the Center’s financial capacity to serve “Beautiful Minds.”
The Center for Mental Health is a private non-profit 501(c)3 corporation supported by client fees, contracts, county contributions, and philanthropy. The Center provides over $2 million annually in unreimbursed services known as Charity Care.
